One of Dominica’s nicest beaches. To access it you will need a 4WD vehicle. Look for the 15 miles from Portsmouth milepost.

This beach boasts clear, warm waters and some good snorkeling spots. It's also safe to swim in and in possession of some of the island's softest sand.

Located on the northern coast of the island of Dominica, You might want to drop by even if you are not staying in the vicinity. Woodford Hill Bay stands out from other beaches because it's perfect for escaping the typical tourist haunts. Most other beaches on Dominica may be just as pretty, but are usually busier since they're found in the most popular parts of town

A secluded, sandy bay north of Portsmouth. The bay area has an excellent view across to Guadeloupe islands.

Castle Bruce is one of the big villages on the east coast of Dominica. Due to its flat land and relatively sheltered bay it has been inhabited already for thousands of years.

The Kalinagos called the area with name Kouanari (in some old maps the name was written as Couanary). The bay is still called Anse Quanery in the maps, or alternatively Saint David Bay (as Castle Bruce is the central village of Saint David Parish).

Occasionnally, one can see the name written in a creole way as Kassibrus.

Leaving Portsmouth, bear right where the road goes straight into Fort Shirley on the Cabrits and you will soon reach Douglas Bay. We first visited this spot in 1987, and then again in 1992. Back then the beach was long and broad and bottom along the entire area was sandy.

Alas, storms changes that. But there is still a sandy beach and sandy bottom area just at the beginning of the bay, on the left as you enter. The swimming beach is excellent, sandy with a very gradual slope and no waves or current to speak of.

A long rugged black-sand beach on the Atlantic coast close to Dominica’s Melville Hall airport. Great for beach-combing!

Just on the west side of the property you reach BATALIE beach witch is one of the beautiful and interesting beach in Dominica . Although the sand is black and not golden, this does not mean that it isn't gorgeous; the long chairs are waiting for you in order to relax under almond and coconut trees.

The Portsmouth Beach Hotel is located next to the Picard Beach Cottages on Dominica’s longest sandy beach on the north-west coast of Dominica, just half a mile from the second town Portsmouth.
