The Alexandra Hospital is the main medical facility in Nevis and is equipped with an x-ray machine and CT scanner in addition to general medical and surgical wards. Emergencies are dealt with immediately and the hospital can facilitate minor to moderate surgeries, however, there are no dialysis facilities or blood bank at the hospital. Most surgeries are done on the island, with the exception of open-heart, major orthopedics and brain surgery; these are referred to Trinidad, Puerto Rico and Miami. The diagnostic laboratory at the hospital has a limited capacity.

Visiting Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) officials have praised the Pogson Medical Center, one of only two “smart” hospitals in the Eastern Caribbean.

Dr. Carissa Etienne, Director of PAHO, who is in the Federation on an official visit and attending the PAHO Caribbean Sub-Regional Managers Meeting, commended the government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis for having a smart hospital in a community.

The Joseph Nathaniel France (Joseph N. France) General Hospital opened in November 1968 and offered a variety of services including; General Surgery, Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Accident and Emergency, Laboratory and Radiology.

I grew up on the island of St Barth and practice yoga since 8 years mostly the Iyengar method and Vinyasa, My teaching varies depending on the student, the moment, and my intuition. I teach Yoga with alignment, spirituality and a sense of humor.
I am so grateful for the great teachers, Jeanmarie Paolillo, David Lurey, Neera Scott & Seane Corn, who came into my life sharing their passion and deep knowledge and to everyone who I have met.

Twenty one years ago, Dr. Ron Goldstein visited St. Barth. He knew David [Grodberg] from his work on the Council of Annual Session for the American Dental Association, and that he was living on the island.
