Caribbean STAY

Established in 1982, the Ballahoo is Basseterre's most popular restaurant and meeting place. The menu is comprehensive, ranging from fresh local seafood to top quality U.S. steak, and includes daily lunch and dinner specials, vegetarian selections and a wide array of snacks.

Located at the entrance to the Calypso Restaurant, the Café offers flavored coffee, espresso, sandwiches, snacks and pastries. Open 18 hours daily.

Since its opening about a year ago, this bar has gained a reputation for producing the best food on The Strip. Its menu offers a range of meat and seafood dishes, all grilled to perfection by Patsy herself. With a live band on Sundays and karaoke on Wednesdays, Patsy's attracts a more mature and relaxed crowd. This is a place for those happy to sit back, sip their wine and listen to old-school tunes.
• Open daily from 11am

Vibes Beach Bar officially opened on December 4th, 2012 and has certainly become one of the most popular bars on the famous Frigate Bay Strip (De Strip) and by extension in St. Kitts and Nevis being a favorite for locals and visitors alike.

Vibes Beach Bar is the perfect balance of fun night life, with the excitement of a sport bar and the elegance of a beach bungalow. Vibes opens daily from 4 pm until, except for Fridays when we open at 1pm, with exciting nightly themes that brings the beach to life with a variety of live entertainment.

Wedged between the sea and the island’s coastal road, Sprat Net is a large, casual wooden barn of a place owned by two fishermen. There’s a garden area by the waterfront while the odd cannon and nautical paraphernalia add a touch of theming to a place that over the past decade has grown from a shed into a spacious restaurant and music venue. I like to come here to eat local fish, lobster and seafood cooked without fuss.

Launched in 2006 by former Philadelphia 76ers President Pat Croce, the newly revamped Rum Barrel evokes the aura of a seafarer’s paradise in the very heart of historic Old Town Key West, with more than 150 rums and an extensive collection of specialty and craft beers.

As the southernmost Philly sports bar, Rum Barrel is known for its legendary tailgates, lively fans and the local hotspot for all things Philly—including its famous cheese steaks. In 2012, it became the official orange-and-blue home of the Key West Gator Club.

“Rush Slowly” is the motto of this well-known beach bar and grill on Cockleshell Bay beach, at the south-eastern tip of the island. With safe, shallow water and panoramic views across to Nevis, I think it’s one of the best places on the island to have some seaside fun, Caribbean-style. The soundtrack is predominantly reggae and the menu offers salads, sandwiches and grilled fish, with a Lobster Fest on Friday nights (when reservations are recommended).

This is one of the best-known beach bars on “The Strip” of watering holes and nightspots that borders South Frigate Bay beach. A simple, sand-under-your-toes, wood-and-palm leaf shack, Mr X’s has a friendly and inclusive atmosphere and soon fills up if there’s a cruise ship visiting. During the day it’s an easy-going place to grab some beach time, with watersports available and a menu featuring burgers, ribs and fish dishes. Thursday nights are the time to go if you want to party, when there is a bonfire and a live band that always gets everyone jigging.
