Aeronautical Telecommunications Limited (AEROTEL) was established in August 1978 for the provision of Engineering and Telecommunication services, including those formerly provided by the International Aeradio (Caribbean) Limited which operated in Jamaica between July 1950 and July 1978. The services provided were navigational services through radio and telegraph links which gave information on the movement of aircraft.


 

The Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica is the regulatory body with responsibility for radio, television and cable services in Jamaica.
To carry out the provisions of the Broadcasting and Radio Re-Diffusion Act;
To make and administer the Television and Sound Broadcasting Regulations;
To evaluate applications and make recommendations to the responsible Minister;
To monitor the transmission and operations of licensees.
To receive and investigate complaints;
To advise the government on policy;
To conduct and or commission research.

ABS Radio 90.5 FM has added Lifestyle Chat to its Friday night lineup. The show, hosted by Joy Farrell and sponsored by Bargain Centre, airs from 8-9 pm.

The Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH) is a training and research organisation formed by the amalgamation of the Caribbean Meteorological Institute (CMI) and Caribbean Operational Hydrological Institute (COHI). The Caribbean Meteorological Institute was established in 1967 by the member states of the Caribbean Meteorological Organisation (CMO) while the Caribbean Operational Hydrological Institute (COHI) was established in 1982.
