COMPETITIVE SWIMMING
Swalings Competitive swim club was formed In 2009 after teaching children to swim in Antigua for the last 6 years. Having built such a strong learn to swim and water safety program, demand grew to start swimming competitively.
In the year since the swim club has been formed Swalings Swim club has travelled throughout the Caribbean competing in international events from Barbados to St Lucia and has also had a number of swimmers selected to represent the Antigua swim team in the OECS in both Grenada and St Lucia.
From their very first swim meet Swalings swimmers have been on the winners podium in Antigua, St Lucia and Barbados amassing 6 gold medals, 15 silver medals and 19 bronze medals. Not a bad return considering the children have only been swimming competitively for a year.
The majority of Swalings competitive swimmers are between the ages of 7 and 11 having all come through the learn to swim program from a young age. They have all met the required water safety standards having obtained their Personal Survival 1 and being able to swim 400metres in each stroke.
Those who are not yet at a level to be in the swim club can join the pre development swim club which allows them to continue in the learn to swim program but also start learning the skills needed to race and build up stamina.
