George F. L. Charles Airport , Formerly known as Vigie Airport is located in Castries and handles inter-Caribbean flights.and is the smaller of two airports in Saint Lucia, the other being Hewanorra International Airport. It is located 2 km north of Castries, the capital city. George F. L. Charles Airport is managed by the Saint Lucia Air and Seaports Authority (SLASPA). The Airport is also near to a large number of hotels in the north end of the island. Its runway runs parallel to a pristine beach, Vigie Beach, which is a popular tourist attraction.This airport handles 32,000 flights per year carrying 394,000 passengers and handles much of the regional and Caribbean flights. With flights from no further afield than San Juan in Puerto Rico.
