This is a beautiful, tall waterfall located on the Sari Sari River near to the village of La Plaine. The hike is quite short and fairly easy though it does involve two river crossings, a little wading, and scrambling over quite slippery boulders. You should not attempt this hike if it is or has been raining heavily. Flash flooding can and does occur on this river. There are two ways to get to La Plaine from the Roseau area. One is via Pont Casse, Rosalie and Riviere Cyrique, the other is via Grand Bay, Delices and Boetica. Both take about the same amount of time.
There is a sign to the Sari Sari Falls on the main coastal road once you enter La Plaine. Follow it past the school and the church. At the junction go left and at the next one, which is signposted, take the right-hand turn. At the very end of the road there is a track that curves to the right by a small building. This is the trailhead.
Follow the track along a field and then down a series of steep steps until you reach the river. Cross the river using the rope as an aid. Follow the track along the right-hand side of the river for a short distance and then cross back again before reaching quite a large cascade. The track then climbs steeply upwards above the left bank of the river.
Follow the track as it runs back down towards the river. There are some nice views of the river and several of its cascades as you head down. You will reach a spur which is usually signposted. Take the trail on the right and follow it down to the river. The rest of the way is simply a walk upriver, sticking to the left -hand side. Around a curve you will see the waterfall.
To get to the pool, carefully make your way over the boulders until you reach some very tall ones. On the left, between two large rocks, is a small hole through which you can pass and climb up. Once through it, be very careful with your footing. The rocks from here to the pool are very slippery. At the pool you will feel the full force of the waterfall. It is deep and great for a refreshing bathe.
