Caribbean STAY

We stayed at Royal Palms in June 2015. Being on a budget in Anguilla, we found RP but we're a bit weary of how it would be as there aren't many reviews in this site.

Oh how I'm glad we took a chance! The property may be hard to find if your a first time visiter to the island (like we were) but with the help of a local we found it. Coming from Blowing Point RP is located on a small/bend that can be hard to find, however coming from West End, the turning can be seen easily. You then go up this small rocky road and come to the property. There is a small car park in the back where you can park your vehicle. Upon arrival Tracy greeted us and took us to our apartment on the second floor. We booked the cheapest option we could, so the room we were given was a delightful surprise! The front door opened into an open kitchen (with all your necessity ammendities) and living area and dining table. Some may feel it to be small, but for two adults we felt it was perfectly acceptable. There is then a balcony with a sun lounger and a table which we used to have breakfast/ dinner in the evenings. The balcony also provided a lovely breeze which we welcomed as it also kept the Mosquitos at bay (not that there were many of them). In the living area there is a TV with all the channels you could need and AC if you wanted to sit inside and watch TV while enjoying takeout/ something that you've cooked.

Behind the kitchen there was then a bedroom which contained two single beds. It included a spacious wardrobe and chest of drawers etc. A bathroom is then located behind this first bedroom which again, had everything you could need. Towels were provided and replaced daily and the shower always had hot water.

We the come to the main bedroom which had an en suite bathroom (much like the first bathroom, although this one had a full mirrored wardrobe and a larger shower). The bed was large, although being from the UK I'm not sure how big it was, maybe a queen size? It could sleep two people and there would be no rolling into each other in the night. There is also a TV mounted on the wall in this room with the same digital channels and the all important AC which we used daily.

The view from the second floor was magnificent. You could see St Martin in the distance and there was a little bird that would sit on one of the palm trees and sing his morning songs to us. The balcony also looks over the shared pool, which we also used a couple of times.

All in all, to try and cut this review short I would definitely recommend Royal Palms to anyone who wants to visit Anguilla but may not have the budget to stay in one of the many fancy resorts. We found RP, to us, to be located in the centre of the island, 10 min drive and you're in the West End, 10/20 min drive and your in The Valley/ Island Harbour. Perfect for those who would like to explore the island. The closest beach is Rendevous Bay which is a 5 min drive (walkable, but there is a long windy road that isn't very walk friendly).

Things to add:
As other reviews have stated the neighbours next door do have dogs which will bark at your car going past their gated property. Although this didn't affect us in any way.

Ask and you shall recieve! We saw some coconuts on the trees within the property and asked Tracy if we could have some. 15 mins later, a ground keeper came up with 4 coconuts and cut 2 for us to have on the spot.

Along with the daily housekeeping duties (which cannot be faulted) there are groundskeepers looking after the property: watering the many lovely plants and taking care and cleaning the pool.

To end, Royal Palms felt like our home away from home. It had everything you could possibly need and was very "cosy". We will certainly stay at Royal Palms again. There is not a bad word to be said about this property.
