The Jamaica Automobile Association (JAA), the premier Auto Club in Jamaica, provides unique member services, and is the source for vital information about safe road use and practices for road users and its members across the island. Over the years, the Association has played an integral role in enhancing the awareness of motorists about the automotive and road landscape in Jamaica, to increase their appreciation for safe motoring.
The organisation provides critical roadside assistance and motor vehicle services to its more than 30,000 members, including–emergency roadside service, and vehicle recovery anywhere in the island, within 40 minutes. And, within the context of its quarterly Auto Fests, the JAA educates members about keeping their motor vehicles road worthy, and puts them in contact with suppliers of vehicle parts and services, which they can access at discount rates.
The JAA is committed to promoting the need for road safety at all levels of the society, including educating students at the primary and high school levels about road safety, through the donation of “road furniture” to the Police Mobile Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force. And, the JAA, along with its MOBI Mascot, participates in awareness sessions held at some 15 schools annually, impacting approximately 15,000 students each year.
At the international level, the automobile club maintains a strong partnership with the Federation Internationale De L’Automobile, of which it is a member; and works with the American Automobile Association. The JAA is also an active participant in the United Nation’s Decade of Action for Road Safety 2010-2020, aimed at reducing road fatalities worldwide by 50 percent; and, locally, remains committed to national safety programmes in concert with the National Road Safety Council and the Road Safety Unit at the Ministry of Transport & Works.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, the JAA facilitates the “first responders” to national disasters, such as flooding and hurricanes, by assisting to clear roadways; and providing information to guide motorists “caught-on-the-road” to safe havens, during these emergency situations.
JAA members benefit from the association’s local and international Show Your Card and Save Discount Programme, which allows club members to save on purchases of products and services from more than 150 merchants across the island, and over 160,000 merchants in participating countries around the world.
