Caribbean STAY

Founded originally in 1929, Cubana is Cuba’s largest national airline. Originally a subsidiary of Pan American World Airways and later a private company owned by Cuban investors, Cubana has since May 1959 been wholly owned by the Cuban government and celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2009. Its corporate headquarters are located in Havana and its main base is located at Jose Marti International Airport .

 

Cubana operates flights to over 20 destinations in Cuba, Europe, the Caribbean, North, Central and South America. Cubana’s destinations served include Bogota, Cancun, Caracaras, Fort de France, Havana, Holgiun, Madrid, Mexico City, Moscow, Montreal, Panama City, Paris Orly, Santiago de Cuba and Toronto. It is a founder and member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Association of Aeronautical Telecommunications (SITA) and of the International Association for Latin American Air Transport (AITAL).

 

In 2004, Cubana embarked on a long-term renovation programme. The airline established a joint venture company with Iberia Airlines of Spain in 2005, to maintain and overhaul Western-built aircraft, such as Airbus and Boeing. In February 2013, Cubana signed a deal for the order of three 350-seater Ilyushin Il-96-400s. In April the same year, Cubana received three Antonov An-158s in 2013 and a further An-158 was delivered in April 2014.
