The market is a place you must visit when in Antigua, particularly on Saturday mornings. The market is opposite West Street Bus Station and opens from early in the morning. If you visit from 5.30am on Saturday morning, you will be astounded at the crowds of local villagers arriving with fruit and vegetables to sell, and empty shopping baskets to fill.

Harper's Drug Store was founded circa 1870 in St. John’s, Antigua. The business was run by the Harper family until 1958 when Alvaro Bento purchased it and subsequently grew it over the years to a full-fledged department store. The business faltered in the late 1980s but new life was injected in 1992 when Roy Bento restyled the brand to the current Harper's Office Depot Inc.
