Aero Caribbean is a government owned airline that was created in 1982 in order to take some of the passenger load off the country’s main carrier, Cubana de Aviacion or Cubana. This carrier service operates several domestic flights to various Cuban destinations including Varadero, Havana, Cayo Largo, Gerona, Cayo Coco, Holguín, Santiago de Cuba and Nueva Gerona.
AeroCaribbean is based out of Havana and uses the José Martí International Airport as its main base of operations; this airline has its own terminal at this airport.
