The Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH) is a training and research organisation formed by the amalgamation of the Caribbean Meteorological Institute (CMI) and Caribbean Operational Hydrological Institute (COHI). The Caribbean Meteorological Institute was established in 1967 by the member states of the Caribbean Meteorological Organisation (CMO) while the Caribbean Operational Hydrological Institute (COHI) was established in 1982.





The Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (METI) is primarily responsible for the formulation of educational policies, and the administration and regulation of education programmes.  In 2013, the METI was also given responsibility for national policy and programme development for Science, technology, and innovation.

Currently, the education system in Barbados caters to almost 60,000 students annually and across the system there are 136 institutions designed to cater to the diverse needs of the population.

The RCCG was founded by Pa Josiah Akindayomi who came from Ondo State in the western part of Nigeria. He was born in 1909. He grew up as an idol worshipper but he later converted to Christianity out of a yearning to know “The God who created the earth and everyone on it”. He was baptized in 1927 in the Church Missionary Society (CMS). He joined the Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) church in 1931 because he was not fulfilled as a Christian in the CMS. While in the C & S church,he said a voice told him that “You will be My servant”.


YMCA Barbados on Facebook seeks to inform the general public about the services the YMCA offers to the Barbadian community.The Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) was founded in London in 1844 by 23 year old George Williams. Its objective was to provide wholesome activities for the young men in the city to partake in. Today, the YMCA is a worldwide voluntary movement which caters to persons of all genders, faiths, races, abilities, ages and incomes. The association is dedicated to building a wholesome community and is one of the largest social service organisations in the world.


Anguilla comes by its tranquility quite naturally.  The hypnotic breezes, warm sun and gentle lull of the surf bond the human spirit to the island.

Since the time of the Arawak Indians, a soul connection has been found on Anguilla.  In ancient times the Indians believed the sun and moon went into a cave on Anguilla and gave birth to the stars, moon, sun, sea and universe.  Once you visit our island, you can certainly understand the Indians’ belief.


The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), founded in 1902, is the world’s oldest international public health agency. It provides technical cooperation and mobilizes partnerships to improve health and quality of life in the countries of the Americas. PAHO is the specialized health agency of the Inter-American System and serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO). Together with WHO, PAHO is a member of the United Nations system.


 Identification. Anguilla, a dependent territory of the United Kingdom, is one of the Leeward Islands. According to tradition, Christopher Columbus gave the small, narrow island its name in 1493 because from the distance it resembled an eel, or in Italian, anguilla. It is also possible that French navigator Pierre Laudonnière gave the island its name from the French anguille.




WHO began when our Constitution came into force on 7 April 1948 – a date we now celebrate every year as World Health Day. We are now more than 7000 people working in 150 country offices, in 6 regional offices and at ourWho we are headquarters in Geneva.
