The University of Havana or UH (in Spanish, Universidad de La Habana) is a university located in the Vedado district of Havana, Cuba. Founded on January 5, 1728, the University of Havana is the oldest university in Cuba, and one of the first to be founded in the Americas. Originally a religious institution, today the University of Havana has 15 faculties (colleges) at its Havana campus and distance learning centers throughout Cuba.


The factory of art (F.A.C.) is an artistic project that is driven by the need to rescue, support and promote the work of thousands of Cuban artists of all art branches such as: cinema, music, dance, theater, visual arts, literature, photography, fashion, graphic design and architecture; that, through its integration, art/artist promote exchange and direct approach to the public and the creator at mass level.


The Malecón is a broad esplanade, roadway and seawall which stretches for 8 km along the coast in Havana, Cuba, from the mouth of Havana Harbor in Old Havana, along the north side of the Centro Habana neighborhood, ending in the Vedado neighborhood.


The beautiful Plaza Mayor is the heart of Trinidad’s colonial old town. Comprising four simple fenced-in gardens, each with a palm tree or two and dotted with various statuettes and other ornamental touches, it’s surrounded by painted colonial mansions, which are adorned with arches and balconies and home to and an art gallery. Plaza Mayor is a focal point for tourists rather than locals, but this vibrant, compact little square is a captivating place nevertheless.


Plaza de la Catedral is one of the five main squares in Old Havana and the site of the Cathedral of Havana from which it takes its name. Originally a swamp, it was later drained and used as a naval dockyard.


Habana Vieja was founded by the Spanish in 1519. It became a stopping point for the treasure laden Spanish Galleons on the crossing between the New World and the Old World. In the 17th century it was one of the main ship-building centers. The city was built in baroque and neoclassic style.


Old Havana is the city-center and one of the 15 municipalities forming Havana, Cuba. It has the second highest population density in the city and contains the core of the original city of Havana.

Aeronautical Telecommunications Limited (AEROTEL) was established in August 1978 for the provision of Engineering and Telecommunication services, including those formerly provided by the International Aeradio (Caribbean) Limited which operated in Jamaica between July 1950 and July 1978. The services provided were navigational services through radio and telegraph links which gave information on the movement of aircraft.


The University Council of Jamaica was established by an Act of Parliament in 1987 as the national quality assurance body for tertiary education to ensure quality through the adoption and improvement of educational standards. The UCJ is a statutory body currently under the portfolio of the Minister of Education.
