The Catholic Community of St.Martin of Tours, Diocese of Willemstad, Curacao, welcomes you to our parish website. It is our hope that you will find the information you are searching for and more! We realize that our website is used not only by the local Catholics but also by others from around the world who visited our island and perhaps joined us at the Sunday Eucharist at one of the three churches located on the Dutch side of our island Sint Maarten, Philipsburg, Simpsonbay or South Reward.


Island Mix was started to bring awareness to our local and regional artisans, feature some of the best of the Caribbean arts and crafts.


The Saint Martin Billfish Tournament was founded in 1997. The founders wanted a tournament that would attract teams from all around the region but at the same time be a reality for local fishermen. The first tournament was not only considered a success due to the high turn out but that it gave the Saint Martin Billfish Tournament the reputation that it needed to still be one of the most popular tournaments on the Caribbean circuit 18 years later.

 The Gunslingers steel drum band played in the courtyard in the center of Grand Case.

 This band of young drummers were spectators in the photo above (left) but soon started down the street, attracting a following near Rainbow.

 The Boys, previously part of Tanny and the Boys, were in the courtyard at Tastevin. Drummers paraded the entire length of the pedestrian zone.


 The artists association " Art Lovers " founded by Paul Elliott and based in St-Martin promotes visual art (painting, photography, ceramic, woodinlay, sculpture etc...) in the Caribbean by creating cultural events.

Founded in February 2004 by painter Paul Elliott Thuleau for the Open Door Week End of studios, galleries and exhibitions, Art Lovers is now gathering fifty menbers who represent the artistic comunity of St Martin.


The St. Maarten Heineken Regatta will celebrate its 36th edition this year from March 3 - 6, 2016. This world renowned sailing event offers four days of World Class Racing, with trade winds coming from the North East, an average temperature of 25°C and crystal clear waters. This truly international event had a staggering 32 different countries represented during the Regatta. Courses will take participants along coastal races, as well as around the island, presenting the beautiful beaches, rock formations and other scenery.

 Before Columbus arrived here during his second voyage in 1493, the island had already been inhabited for some one thousand years. The first people to settle here were a tribe of Arawak Indians who left their homeland in the Orinoco basin of South America and kept migrating upwards along the chain of islands in the Caribbean. They gave it the name "Sualouiga" meaning "Land of Salt" for the salt-pans and the brackish water they found here in great abundance.


St. Martin's Dutch side is known for its festive nightlife, beaches, jewelry, drinks made with native rum-based guavaberry liquors, and casinos.[17] The island's French side is known for its nude beaches, clothes, shopping (including outdoor markets), and French and Indian Caribbean cuisine. English is the most commonly spoken language along with a local dialect. The official languages are French for Saint-Martin, and both Dutch and English for Sint Maarten.
