Caribbean STAY

regrets in that Despite the respect of forms and a wonderful hull, of APACHE and MARAMA , his plans are not exactly respected .
Indeed, the shipyard site N2A, the initiator of the project, changed some substantial elements such as roofs, cockpit, back, length, weight estimate and interior.
The bias that has been chosen for MARAMA was to respect as much as possible the basics of Dominique Presles.
We would like to thank him for his advices and counsels.
The first step was to weigh the hull to determine the exact construction weight. The operation was performed using two cranes on 1 March 2008.
The construction weight recorded was 19.9 tons, 2.4 tons of weight more than the initial theoretical weight.
To meet the architect’s desired proportions, a ton of weight construction for a ton of ballast, and to « stiffen » the ship, it was decided that the weight of the ballast would be 19.888 tons.
The Cabinet SDA , Marcel Stagnol was responsible for establishing and monitoring the weight estimate, the stability calculations, the realization of a complete set of plans in the state as well as the relations with the Administration and the Veritas Office.
Concerning the rigging and the sails, the mast sampling was increased significantly,
specifications of the mizzen are unchanged, the sail areas are larger.
Everything was done to « ease in blast » and inside, « stiff » the ship, technical elements were handled as if for a “services ship” in order to get a safe, comfortable and fast ship maneuverable by three people.
The internal fitting is constrained by the existence of watertight bulkheads, the adoption of a classic layout accommodation Salon, Owner, Guest, laydie’s cabins, Galley, Crews part.
The facilities are biased responding to comfort, lightweight construction, the style is « reminiscent of an industrial space ».
To this day the ship reached 16.9 knots with 20 knots of wind therefore reaching or even exceeding 20 knots seems feasible.
